FAQ for Long-life Bending Tools

  • What kind of tool are EURO and CEFH ?

    The surface hardness of the cutting edge (tooling process part) is set to be high, and it is a long-life tool with excellent abrasion resistance.
    EURO is a standard punch height type, and CEFH is a step bend compatible tool with a punch height of 120 mm.

  • How much longer is the durability compared to standard (conventional) tools ?

    The hardness of standard (conventional) tools is HRC47±3, and the hardness of EURO / CEFH are higher than HRC54.
    In our wear comparison test, the amount of wear was about 4 times greater than that of standard (conventional) tools, proving its high durability.

  • Isn't it easier to crack due to the higher hardness ?

    To prevent tool scattering accidents due to overloading, only the cutting edges (formed part) are made harder, and the hardness of the base material is intentionally lowered.
    Lowering the hardness of the base material prevents operator risk by causing buckling damage instead of scattering damage.

  • Is there any problem if I use it together with the conventional tool (non-hardness tool) that I am using ?

    We recommend combining long-life tools.
    Although it is possible to temporarily use a conventional tool and a long-life tool together, there is a risk of wear differences that may lead to step scratches as the number of bending cycles increases.

  • Is the tool exactly the same in length and cross-sectional shape compared to a tool made by a machine manufacturer ?

    The overall length and cross-sectional shape of the products in the catalog are basically the same.
    Tools other than CEFH30° do not have a clearance groove at the bottom of the V-shape, but this does not affect bending quality.
    Also, there are no machine defects or other adverse effects due to the use of our tools.

  • Is it okay to use punches with long life tools and dies with standard tools or vice versa ?

    The machine can be used without any problem.
    In addition, by combining both the punch and die with long-life tools, it is possible to maintain a stable bending process with less wear.

  • Is it possible to change the tip radius or make special tools other than those listed in the catalog, or long-life tools made by other manufacturers besides Amada ?

    Tip radius can be changed according to conditions.
    We can also manufacture special tools with a high hardness, so please feel free to contact us. In addition to the Amada type, we can also manufacture Komatsu type and other tools with a high hardness treatment on the cutting edge.
